Food industry M&A deals in June 2020 total $1.76bn globally

Total food industry M&A deals in June 2020 worth $1.76bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 275.6% over the previous month and a drop of 5.7% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $1.87bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $1.56bn. At the country level, the US topped the list in terms of deal value at $1.56bn.

In terms of volumes, Asia-Pacific emerged as the top region for food industry M&A deals globally, followed by Europe and then North America.

The top country in terms of M&A deals activity in June 2020 was the US with seven deals, followed by China with four and Malaysia with three.

In 2020, as of the end of June 2020, food M&A deals worth $10.09bn were announced globally, marking an increase of 7.6% year on year.

The combined value of the top five food M&A deals stood at $1.74bn, against the overall value of $1.76bn recorded for the month.
