Food industry M&A deals in June 2019 total $56.84m globally

Total food industry M&A deals in June 2019 worth $56.84m were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 96.2% over the previous month and a drop of 98.3% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $3.28bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $44.53m. At the country level, Australia topped the list in terms of deal value at $34.74m.

In terms of volumes, Europe emerged as the top region for food industry M&A deals globally, followed by North America and then Asia-Pacific.

The top country in terms of M&A deals activity in June 2019 was the US with 13 deals, followed by the UK with four and Australia with three.

In 2019, as of the end of June 2019, food M&A deals worth $9.35bn were announced globally, marking a decrease of 61.9% year on year.

The top five food industry M&A deals accounted for 90.6% of the overall value during June 2019.

The combined value of the top five food industry M&A deals stood at $51.49m, against the overall value of $56.84m recorded for the month. The top announced food industry M&A deal tracked by GlobalData in June 2019 was Shepparton Partners Collective’s $27.83m asset transaction with Coca-Cola Amatil.

In second place was the $8.94m acquisition of Food Blessing (1988)Limited by Thaifoods Group PublicLimited and in third place was Ricegrowers’ $6.91m asset transaction with FeedRite.

The $3.9m acquisition of Emerald Bay Wellness by Plus Products and Together Pharma’s acquisition of Cannabliss for $3.9m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
