Food industry deals total $546m globally in June 2021

Total food industry deals worth $546m were announced globally for June 2021, with the $123.4m acquisition of Falcon Dairy being the sector’s biggest investment, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 91.6% over the previous month of $6.51bn and a drop of 77.6% when compared with the last 12-month average of $2.44bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a drop of 21.79% with 61 deals in June 2021 when compared to the last 12-month average of 78 deals.

In value terms, Asia-Pacific led the activity with deals worth $321.56m in June 2021.

The top five deals accounted for 75.6% of the overall value during June 2021.

The combined value of the top five deals stood at $412.95m, against the overall value of $546m recorded for the month.

4) The $46.31m venture financing deal of Wuye Banmian by CDH Investments Fund Management and Growth Capital Ventures Ltd.

5) Cadonau, Christian Egan, Kaszek Ventures, Lofoten Capital, Luiz Otavio Campos, Milton Seligman, Ricardo Rolim, Rob Citrone and ThornTree Capital Partners’ venture financing deal with LIV UP COMERCIO DE ALIMENTO for $35.69m.
