Food industry deals total $2.3bn globally in September 2021

Total food industry deals worth $2.3bn were announced globally for September 2021, with the $900m acquisition of Igloo Products being the sector’s biggest investment, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 76.6% over the previous month of $9.96bn and a drop of 28.8% when compared with the last 12-month average of $3.27bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a rise of 7.06% with 91 deals in September 2021 when compared to the last 12-month average of 85 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with deals worth $1.54bn in September 2021.

The combined value of the top five deals stood at $1.96bn, against the overall value of $2.3bn recorded for the month.
