Food industry deals in Q4 2020 total $10.58bn globally

Total food industry deals for Q4 2020 worth $10.58bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 20.1% over the previous quarter and a rise of 31.05% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $8.09bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a rise of 20.3% over the last four-quarter average with 243 deals against the average of 202 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with deals worth $7.59bn.

The top five food deals accounted for 55.7% of the overall value during Q4 2020.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $5.89bn, against the overall value of $10.58bn recorded for the month.

2) The $800m acquisition of Salsas de Jalisco Cacu by McCormick &Inc

4) The $575m private equity deal with NutriSystem by Kainos Capital and MSD Partners

5) B&G Foods’ asset transaction with The J.M. Smucker for $550m.
