Food industry deals in Q4 2019 total $10.12bn globally

Total food industry deals for Q4 2019 worth $10.12bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 3.4% over the previous quarter and a rise of 16.5% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $8.69bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a drop of 21.4% over the last four-quarter average with 165 deals against the average of 210 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with deals worth $6.32bn.

The top five food deals accounted for 78.7% of the overall value during Q4 2019.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $7.97bn, against the overall value of $10.12bn recorded for the month.

1) Froneri International’s $4bn asset transaction with Nestle

2) The $1.17bn acquisition of China Agri-Industries Holdings by COFCO (Hong Kong)

3) Marfrig Global Foods’ $970m acquisition of National Beef PackingLLC

4) The $925m acquisition of Bumble Bee Foods by F.C.F. Fishery

5) Ardian Holding’s private equity deal with CERELIA for $900m.
