Food industry deals in Q3 2020 total $8.03bn globally

Total food industry deals for Q3 2020 worth $8.03bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 89.6% over the previous quarter and a drop of 5.1% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $8.47bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a rise of 7% over the last four-quarter average with 214 deals against the average of 200 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with deals worth $3.52bn.

The top five food deals accounted for 62.4% of the overall value during Q3 2020.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $5.01bn, against the overall value of $8.03bn recorded for the month.

1) Groupe Lactalis’ $3.2bn asset transaction with The Kraft Heinz

2) The $782.79m asset transaction with Kerry Group by Kerry Co-Operative Creameries

3) Woolworths Group’s $399.4m acquisition of PFD Food Services

4) The $353.22m private equity deal with Prosur by MCH Private Equity

5) Enterprise Reform Fund, Fujian Salt Group, Nanfang Media Group, Ningbo Haoshu Investment and Yunnan Provincial Energy Investment Group’s private equity deal with Guangdong Guangyan Holdings for $278m.
