Total food industry deals for Q3 2019 worth $10.28bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 139.6% over the previous quarter and a rise of 24.2% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $8.28bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a rise of 5.5% over the last four-quarter average with 211 deals against the average of 200 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with deals worth $3.96bn.

The top five food deals accounted for 64.9% of the overall value during Q3 2019.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $6.67bn, against the overall value of $10.28bn recorded for the month.

2) The $1.8bn acquisition of Pioneer Food Group by PepsiCo

4) The $1bn acquisition of VMG Quest Blocker and Voyage Holdings by The Simply Good Foods

5) P/F Bakkafrost Holding’s acquisition of The Scottish Salmon for $641.14m.
