Food industry deals in Q2 2020 total $3.94bn globally

Total food industry deals for Q2 2020 worth $3.94bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 55.6% over the previous quarter and a drop of 53.6% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $8.53bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a drop of 11.7% over the last four-quarter average with 182 deals against the average of 206 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with deals worth $2bn.

The top five food deals accounted for 66.6% of the overall value during Q2 2020.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $2.62bn, against the overall value of $3.94bn recorded for the month.

2) The $340m private equity deal with Borden Dairy by Capitol Peak Partners and KKR &Inc

3) Meiji’s $254.4m acquisition of AustAsia Investment Holdings

4) The $242.23m acquisition of Ningxia Huanmei Dairy Development by New Hope Dairy

5) Shenzhen Xingxing Technology’s acquisition of Jiangxi Zhengbang Technology for $225.62m.
