Food industry deals in Q1 2020 total $5.61bn globally

Total food industry deals for Q1 2020 worth $5.61bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 45.2% over the previous quarter and a drop of 33.9% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $8.49bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a drop of 8.3% over the last four-quarter average with 188 deals against the average of 205 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with deals worth $3bn.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $3.7bn, against the overall value of $5.61bn recorded for the month.
