Food industry deals in October 2020 total $5.35bn globally

Total food industry deals for October 2020 worth $5.35bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 1.8% over the previous month and a rise of 104.4% when compared with the last 12-month average of $2.62bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a rise of 25.8% over the last 12-month average with 83 deals against the average of 66 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with deals worth $4.64bn.

The top five food deals accounted for 87.2% of the overall value during October 2020.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $4.67bn, against the overall value of $5.35bn recorded for the month.

2) The $575m private equity deal with NutriSystem by Kainos Capital and MSD Partners

4) The $203.78m private equity deal with Atyab by ADQ Holding

5) Barilla Holding’s asset transaction with Pasta Zara for $138.71m.
