Total food industry deals for October 2019 worth $583.76m were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 52.2% over the previous month and a drop of 79.8% when compared with the last 12-month average of $2.89bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a drop of 15.9% over the last 12-month average with 58 deals against the average of 69 deals.

In value terms, Asia-Pacific led the activity with deals worth $291.86m.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $518.86m, against the overall value of $583.76m recorded for the month.
