Food industry deals in November 2019 total $4.12bn globally

Total food industry deals for November 2019 worth $4.12bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 588.3% over the previous month and a rise of 55.3% when compared with the last 12-month average of $2.65bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a drop of 19.4% over the last 12-month average with 54 deals against the average of 67 deals.

In value terms, Asia-Pacific led the activity with deals worth $2.01bn.

The top five food deals accounted for 92.3% of the overall value during November 2019.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $3.81bn, against the overall value of $4.12bn recorded for the month.

1) COFCO (Hong Kong)’s $1.17bn acquisition of China Agri-Industries Holdings

2) The $970m acquisition of National Beef PackingLLC by Marfrig Global Foods

3) F.C.F. Fishery’s $926m acquisition of Bumble Bee Foods

4) The $568.6m private equity deal with Junlebao Dairy by Junqian Management, Ping An Capital and Primavera Capital Group

5) KLN Partners’ private equity deal with Haimarrow Food Service for $170.4m.
