Food industry deals in July 2020 total $1.62bn globally

Total food industry deals for July 2020 worth $1.62bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 38.1% over the previous month and a drop of 42.5% when compared with the last 12-month average of $2.82bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a rise of 16.9% over the last 12-month average with 76 deals against the average of 65 deals.

In value terms, Middle East and Africa led the activity with deals worth $742.9m.

The top five food deals accounted for 11.8% of the overall value during July 2020.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $191.85m, against the overall value of $1.62bn recorded for the month.

1) Bezos Expeditions, L Catterton Partners, Future Positive Capital, IndieBio, SOSventures China and The Craftory’s $85m private equity deal with The Not

2) The $60m venture financing of Guoquan Shihui by Buhuo Ventures, GenBridge Capital, IDG Capital and Vision Knight Capital

3) United Molasses (Ireland)’s $20.05m asset transaction with Greencore Group

4) The $15.8m acquisition of Deli Asia (S), Delisnacks, Dough Culture and Dough Heritage by Koufu

5) AgFunder, Alexis Ohanian, Bob Pittman, Jasmine Tookes, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, McCain Foods, Neil Parikh, Rainfall Ventures and Walter Robb’s venture financing of Nuggs Labs for $11m.
