Food industry deals in July 2019 total $4.26bn globally

Total food industry deals for July 2019 worth $4.26bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 620.8% over the previous month and a rise of 54.5% when compared with the last 12-month average of $2.76bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a rise of 21.2% over the last 12-month average with 80 deals against the average of 66 deals.

In value terms, Middle East and Africa led the activity with deals worth $1.8bn.

The top five food deals accounted for 90.2% of the overall value during July 2019.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $3.85bn, against the overall value of $4.26bn recorded for the month.

1) PepsiCo’s $1.8bn acquisition of Pioneer Food Group

2) The $1.03bn private equity deal with Koninklijke Wessanen by Best of Nature Bidco

3) Shijiazhuang Junqian Enterprises Management Corp and Shijiazhuang Penghai Venture Capital Fund’s $585.36m private equity deal with Shijiazhuang Junlebao Dairy

4) The $300m acquisition of Kelsen Group by CTH (Belgium)

5) PepsiCo’s acquisition of Natural Food International Holding for $130.53m.
