Europe’s food industry saw a drop of 0.00% in deal activity during September 2021

Europe’s food industry saw a flat growth in deal activity during September 2021, when compared with the last 12-month average, led by Investindustrial’s $421.9m private equity deal for 63% stake in LA DORIA, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

 

A total of 25 food industry deals worth $619.3m were announced for the region in September 2021, against the 12-month average of 25 deals.

Of all the deal types, M&A saw most activity in September 2021 with 11 transactions, representing a 44% share for the region.

In second place was private equity with seven deals, followed by venture financing deals with seven transactions, respectively capturing a 28% and 28% share of the overall deal activity for the month.

In terms of value of deals, private equity was the leading category in Europe’s food industry with $486.38m, while M&A and venture financing deals totalled $91.6m and $41.35m, respectively.

The top five food deals accounted for 98.7% of the overall value during September 2021.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $611.52m, against the overall value of $619.3m recorded for the month.
