Asia-Pacific’s food industry saw a rise of 50.00% in deal activity during August 2021

Asia-Pacific’s food industry saw a rise of 50% in deal activity during August 2021, when compared with the last 12-month average, led by JBS’s $402m acquisition of Huon Aquaculture Group, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

 

A total of 36 food industry deals worth $506.2m were announced for the region in August 2021, against the 12-month average of 24 deals.

Of all the deal types, venture financing saw most activity in August 2021 with 29 transactions, representing an 80.6% share for the region.

In second place was M&A with six deals, followed by private equity deals with one transactions, respectively capturing a 16.7% and 2.8% share of the overall deal activity for the month.

In terms of value of deals, M&A was the leading category in Asia-Pacific’s food industry with $403.54m, followed by venture financing deals totalled $102.64m.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $484.43m, against the overall value of $506.2m recorded for the month.
