At the FachPack 2007 Exhibition in Nuremberg, S+S Separation and Sorting Technology GmbH will present technologically sophisticated metal and foreign-body separators. Along with other products, S+S will be presenting the RAYCON X-ray system, and comparing it directly to the conventional VARICON metal detection system.
Interested visitors may bring their product to the S+S stand, in Hall 9, and perform a real-time test to determine which inspection solution is the best for their requirements. S+S will provide special check-cards.
The RAYCON X-ray system can detect a wide variety of foreign particles including metal contaminants, glass, ceramics, stones, rubber, bones and PVC. The system is used for the final inspection of packaged products. Aluminium-coated packing materials or metallised films are no problem at all. The system also permits the simultaneous inspection of different products and packaging even in parallel production lines.
Out of line or misplaced products are also inspected and do not cause error messages. The RAYCON X-ray system guarantees optimal image processing at a high throughput rate of up to 600 packing units per minute.
The VARICON metal detection system using conventional balanced coil technology detects all magnetic and non-magnetic metal contamination – even contaminants that are enclosed within the product. This system is used for the final inspection at the end of the line after packing, during weighing, or during labeling.
Due to the compact design of the search coil the VARICON systems can be easily integrated in existing conveyor belt lines. In most cases installation requires minimal modifications often without interrupting operation.
The advantage of integrating these inspection systems in the outgoing goods department is that the products are already packed here, and that further contamination with foreign particles in the production process is not possible.
Both the RAYCON and the VARICON system use pusher or air jet rejection with a lockable collecting container for the separation of out of specification products. Data recording and archiving can be provided compliant with IFS and HACCP requirements.
