On 11 November, during the visit of Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, chairman Birger Brix on behalf of Palsgaard and Miguel Hidalgo on behalf of Palsgaard Mexico donated $100,000 to CTDUCA, a foundation dedicated to the integral development of people with Trisomy 21, also known as Down’s Syndrome.
Since 2010, Palsgaard Mexico has been partnering with CTDUCA, an organisation dedicated to helping children and adults with Down’s Syndrome to improve their metabolism and learning abilities to have a better quality of life. Research shows that children with Down’s Syndrome often suffer intolerance to some food products. This means that their ability to digest sufficient quantity of the special nutrients is limited.
The Palsgaard Mexico research team has succeeded in developing a food complement called ‘T2’, based on suppressing some foods that could represent a potential source of allergy or food sensitivity, and provide essential nutrients to support nutritional intervention, promoting the absorption and assimilation of elements necessary for the production and activation of neuro-transmitters.
And the results have been significant: Palsgaard in connection with the University of México, the University of San Luis Potosí, the Ibero-American University, the COPOCYT, the CONACYT and parents have done clinical studies, cognitive, biomedical, ethnological and physiological, which have shown that regular consumption of the food complement ‘T2’ improves cognitive ability as well as psychological and social well-being.
"Already in 1908, long before ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ was conceptualised, Palsgaard’s founder Einar Viggo Schou emphasised the importance of acting responsible and caring towards the company’s employees and families – and the importance of stretching this responsibility into society. Therefore it feels natural for us to support CTDUCA in the work done on behalf of the Down’s population and contribute in their project of building the University of the Independent Life and we are happy to see the progress demonstrated in our joint efforts," said chairman Birger Brix.
T2 is produced by Palsgaard and marketed for the Mexican and US market by ‘Special Nutrition Group’.
The donation took place at a ceremony on 11 November at CTDUCA during the visit of Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.
