Spray Nozzle Engineering announces the release of Click & Dry, a new range of innovative high-pressure spray drying nozzles.
The company’s international food and beverage sales manager Stuart Morgan says its design credo has been for the last two decades to develop one new innovation each year.
He said: “And 2018 is no exception. With our design teams’ focus on nozzle hygiene and long-life wear parts for cost reduction.”
As a global supplier, Morgan says customers’ needs are many and varied, but what is common to all is operational safety, improved hygiene, improved quality and spare parts cost reduction aspects.
He added: “The latest in the Click&Dry Compact Hygiene and Hygiene-Plus series of spray dry nozzles has achieved and exceeded all these industry needs.”
With market-leading designs introduced by Spray Nozzle Engineering almost a decade ago, the company has released its new Smooth Flow Path Ultra Smooth Internal Cap Chamber patented design called Hygiene-Plus, along with its unique concentric clasp technology (CCT) and its globally proven Push Fit Easy Outwear part retention system (PF).
Morgan explains the reasoning behind them: “Common to many powder producers and original equipment manufacturers (OEM) alike, especially in regard to products such as Infant Formula, is the need to improve hygiene and powder quality, all while addressing the pressures of reducing operating costs.
“Our new series of Click&Dry Compact nozzles is totally smooth in the fluid zone, that is where the swirl and orifice reside there are no O-ring grooves. Threads or locators that can hold debris or make cleaning difficult; this smooth flow path, therefore, making it easy to clean and importantly assists in the flow dynamics through the nozzle, a benefit in longer run times.
“However, added to this is our wear system incorporating seal-In –disc Orifice technology that removes the O-ring groove and threads from the fluid zone, which also means safer assembly by operators, as the disc O-ring is inserted into the disc prior to final assembly, reducing the risk of this crucial O-ring being inserted incorrectly or left out altogether; all this via familiar and proven swirl and orifice geometries.
“Added to the Hygiene and assembly benefits of the Click & Dry system, is a World first in Spray Dry Nozzle design, and that is our optional CCT. This optional system that not only holds wear parts (the swirl and disc) in perfect alignment inside the nozzle cap, eliminating misalignment and therefore delivering better spray performance, but long-term trials have shown reduced wear rates of vital internal spray components thanks to proper concentricity, and improved spray atomisation due to better laminar flows through an uninterrupted flow path.
“Another unexpected benefit of using the CCT clasp, is that due to its unique design, wear parts can only be assembled one way, reducing assembly error with safer and easier assembly and disassembly by all operators. The clasp itself has a removal tool, that allows extraction without force or direct impact; that’s why we call it the easy out system (no more premature wear part damage or breakage or misalignment, a major cost saving) more than halving seasonal wear part use in many applications.”
Morgan says the company’s new product development is a direct result of close association with drier operators and powder technologists / managers worldwide, who use these nozzles day in and day out. This included the design of dedicated wear part removal tools to improve plant safety, reduce time and costly parts breakages.
He added: “This also leads to Spray Nozzle Engineering industry-first one-year anti-breakage warranty on wear parts with free replacement guarantee on select models. Innovative designs such as the high flow drip-pro non-drip check valve system with replaceable sealing faces, and the now standard, low-bearding (low build-up) range of longer run nozzle caps are also key features.
“These are all now part of the worldwide standard Click&Dry spray dry nozzle range by Spray Nozzle Engineering, available for all drier types and sizes and Powders. Refer to Spray Dry Safety Guarantee T&C for more details.
