Wessanen acquires gluten-free food company Mrs Crimble’s

UK-based gluten-free food company Mrs Crimble’s has been acquired by Wessanen, owner of Clipper Tea and Whole Earth brands.

Financial details of the agreement have not been divulged by the companies.

Mrs Crimble’s has been in the gluten-free business for more than 30 years, and is known for its macaroons and other gluten-free products.

The company reported a net revenue amounted to £12.7m in the last financial year.

Mrs Crimble’s has a wide distribution network in UK and is also increasing its presence in the global market.

Its products fit into Wessanen’s existing portfolio of healthy and sustainable brands.

Wessanen CEO Christophe Barnouin said: "The acquisition of Mrs Crimbles is a further step in the execution of our strategy. The brand has great knowledge in gluten-free ‘sweet-in-between’ products and a strong base in the UK.

"This acquisition will further strengthen our operations in the UK market and gives us an entry into a strategic growth segment."
