Biscuits Bouvard acquires Belgian pastry producer Pidy

France-based Biscuits Bouvard has acquired Pidy, a Belgium-based pastry producer.

Financial details have not been disclosed by the two companies.

Although Pidy CEO Thierry Dehaeck will not be active in the merged company’s daily business operations, he will offer advice to Biscuits Bouvard on a consultancy basis during the intial acquisition period.

Based in Ypres, Pidy operates facilities in Belgium, France and the US.

Pidy UK general manager Robert Whittle was quoted by foodbev.com as saying: “Being part of a larger family owned group brings the UK business a huge wealth of potential.

“Plans for the future roll-out of private-label biscuits bring just one significant development to our expansion plans but moreover it has been made clear, from the plans presented by the Bouvard management, that they see pastry innovation as the key to continued growth in the Pidy range with investment plans in NPD, plant and machinery having already begun in earnest.”

The company also has five sales entities for the Benelux, France, UK, US and other markets. These organisations offer services and market support to customers across 50 countries.

Pdiy has posted a turnover of €40m. Biscuits Bouvard is a manufacturer of biscuits sold under private label. It has a strong presence in European markets.

The company has around 1,200 employees, seven manufacturing facilities across France, and one in Italy with a turnover of €250m.
