Deals this week: Naturell India, Icelandic Group, BRF

Naturell India, a nutritional bar manufacturer under the Rite Bite brand, has announced plans to expand its presence.

The company will raise external funding from domestic venture capital firms to in order to fund the expansion.

Solo Seafood has agreed to purchase Icelandic Group’s subsidiary, Icelandic Ibérica. Fisk-Seafood, Jakob Valgeir and Nesfiskur, which own Solo Seafood, are also among the target company’s main suppliers.

The deal is subject to approval from the Central Bank of Iceland and the Spanish Competition Authorities, and excludes Icelandic Group’s key brand, Icelandic Seafood.

The two companies have, however, signed a licensing agreement, which gives Solo Seafood exclusive utilisation rights of Icelandic Seafood in southern Europe.

Brazil-based meat processing company BRF will purchase a 70% stake in FFM Berhad's Malaysian subsidiary FFM Further Processing for $16m.

Malaysian conglomerate business group PPB Group owns FFM Berhad.

BRF aims to enhance its footprint in South East Asia and its focus on Muslim markets through the deal.

Sea Watch International, a clam producer based in the US, has signed an investment and partnership deal with Look's Gourmet Food Company, to strengthen its position and increase seafood retail distribution in the US.

Operating as Bar Harbor Foods in Whiting, Maine, Look's Gourmet Food Company owns popular premium seafood brands such as Bar Harbor and Atlantic.
