Buitoni shifts to non-GMO ingredients for pasta and sauce portfolio

Refrigerated pastas and sauces manufacturer Buitoni North America commits to using non-GMO ingredients in its products.

The brand claimed that its products are free from artificial colours and flavours, and has secured verification for its 'no GMO ingredients' label from globally trusted third-party verifier SGS.

For achieving this certification, Buitoni has sourced new ingredients for its recipes and conducted an SGS audit to ensure the process.

Buitoni brand manager Erica Starrfield said: “From our heart and home at Casa Buitoni, the Buitoni brand has always strived to bring high-quality, delicious pasta to dinner tables.

 “We know that more and more consumers want to understand where their food comes from and how it’s made. Our move to no GMO ingredients and shorter, clearer ingredient statements are part of an ongoing effort to create pasta and sauces that families and individuals trust and continue to enjoy.”

The company also plans to redesign packaging of its products, and will reflect the brand’s ingredient changes and carry a new 'no GMO ingredients' logo.

The packaging will also include information such as recipe inspirations, and the new range of pasta and sauces will be available in the refrigerated section of grocery stores this month.

Buitoni North America is a part of Nestlé USA, which acquired the pasta manufacturer in 1988.
