Ornua to invest €10m to expand Neukirchen-Vluyn facility in Germany

Dairy products exporter Ornua has plans to invest €10m into the expansion of its production facility in Neukirchen-Vluyn, Dusseldorf, Germany.

This is the third expansion of the facility and takes the total investment to €50m.

Ornua is investing to meet increasing demand for Kerrygold dairy products in Germany, which is the core market for its products.

Increasing production and office space, as well as storage facilities, the expansion will take around a year for completion.

In the last two years, Ornua has expanded the production capacity in China, Germany, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, the US and the UK.

The company recently opened Kerrygold Park, in Mitchelstown, Ireland, as the new headquarters for the Irish dairy product manufacturer.

Established in 1973, Kerrygold recently introduced a variety of fruit yogurts in the German market.

Ornua chief executive officer Kevin Lane said: “This year, Kerrygold in Germany will again deliver double-digit growth. Ongoing investment in the brand and our facilities has been critical to the Kerrygold success story.

"This most recent investment enables us to further expand our business in Germany and throughout this region. We are a premium brand and our customers expect products of consistent high-quality. Ensuring that we meet those expectations, every time, is key to growing our business.”

With the expansions undergoing over the last two years, job opportunities at Neukirchen-Vluyn facility increased from 120 to 160. The current expansion will create further jobs.
