Wegdam Food Link acquires Tilly Sabco Bretagne

Netherlands-based Wegdam Food Link has acquired the assets of halal poultry product supplier Tilly Sabco Bretagne.

In July, Tilly Sabco was placed in receivership by the Commercial Court of Brest with a six-month observation period.

Wegdam intends to restart Tilly Sabco, which would save 61 employees from redundancy.

The new Tilly Sabco will focus on the production of chicken sausages and packing frozen foods. It will soon serve as a logistics hub for the Wegdam Food Group.

Wegdam Food Link intends to rename the acquired company as Tilly Sabco International and increase the staff to more than 100 employees.

Wegdam exports frozen food to Africa and has a vast product distribution network with a focus on frozen chicken, meat and fish, as well as dry foods such as sunflower oil and canned fish.

The company has developed several well-known food brands in Africa, with Nana and Chef Special being the most popular.

With the acquisition of brands and products from Tilly Sabco, Wegdam is planning to enhance its reach in African markets, as well as create new possibilities to expand to other regions such as the Middle East.
