Orkla strengthens German presence with Eis Gräbner acquisition

Orkla Food Ingredients has acquired a 100% stake in German sales and distribution company Eis Ludwig Gräbner.

The company executed the transaction through its subsidiary Eisunion, which was acquired in 2015.

Orkla Food Ingredients anticipates that the latest acquisition will strengthen its position as a supplier of ice cream ingredients and accessories in Germany.

Orkla Food Ingredients CEO Pål Eikeland said: “The purchase of Eis Gräbner complements Orkla’s current position in the ice cream ingredients and accessories segment in Germany.

“The acquisition offers a potential for expanding our product range, broadening our distribution and realising synergies with our present operations.”

Last year, Eis Gräbner reported a turnover of €6.5m. It has also identified several cost measures and plans to implement them over the next two years.

Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed by both the companies.

Orkla Food Ingredients has been engaged in the supply of ice cream ingredients and accessories, with a presence in the Nordic region, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.

The company’s major product categories are margarine and butter blends, yeast, bread and cake improvers and mixes, marzipan and ice cream ingredients.

It has sales and distribution companies in 22 countries, ensuring proximity to bakeries.
