Europe’s food industry saw a rise of 45.92% in deal activity in Q1 2021

Led by $48.73m acquisition of Pasta Evangelists, Europe’s food industry saw a rise of 45.92% in deal activity during Q1 2021, when compared to the last four-quarter average, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

 

A total of 85 deals worth $412.7m were announced for the region during Q1 2021, against the last four-quarter average of 58.25 deals.

Of all the deal types, M&A saw most activity in Q1 2021 with 50 deals, representing a 58.8% share for the region.

In second place was venture financing with 21 deals, followed by private equity deals with 14 transactions, respectively capturing a 24.7% and 16.5% share of the overall deal activity for the quarter.

In terms of value of deals, M&A was the leading category in Europe’s food industry with $207.64m, while venture financing and private equity deals totalled $157.68m and $47.39m, respectively.

The top five food deals accounted for a 53.01% share of the overall value during Q1 2021.

The combined value of the top five deals stood at $218.77m, against the overall value of $412.7m recorded for the quarter.

3) DNB Asset Management Holding, Espen Aubert, Grieg Family, Helge Nielsen , Klaveness Marine Finance, Pactum, TD Veen and Tycoon Industrier’s $46.98m private equity deal with Proximar Seafood

4) The $42.42m acquisition deal with OOO Pit-Product by OOO. and APK MIKHAILOVSKI

5) Jubilant Foodworks Netherlands’ acquisition of Fides Food Systems Cooperatief U.A. for $33.64m.
