Food industry cross border deals total $64.78m globally in February 2021

Total food industry cross border deals worth $64.78m were announced globally for February 2021, with the $26.75m venture financing of Future Meat Technologies being the sector’s biggest investment, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 94.4% over the previous month of $1.15bn and a drop of 95.02% when compared with the last 12-month average of $1.3bn.

In terms of number of cross border deals, the sector saw a rise of 5.26% with 20 deals in February 2021 when compared to the last 12-month average of 19 deals.

In value terms, Middle East and Africa led the activity with cross border deals worth $26.75m in February 2021.

The combined value of the top five cross border deals stood at $54.96m, against the overall value of $64.78m recorded for the month.
