Plukon Food completes acquisition of CFG Nijkerk

Plukon Food Group, the largest poultry company in the Netherlands, has completed its acquisition of Cuparius Food Group (CFG), based in Nijkerk.

The transaction signed in July secured the approval of the competition authorities in the Netherlands and in Germany. The acquired company will trade under the name Plukon CFG Nijkerk BV.

CFG mainly specialises in supplying chicken products to European food service firms such as Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The acquisition will allow both the companies to further strengthen each other from the sourcing of raw materials, existing logistics channels and available production capacity.

It will also allow both the companies to further expand their operations in Europe by accessing Plukon’s production in six European countries and with several chain concepts.

Last month, Plukon signed an agreement in principle for the purchase of 51% of shares in German hatchery Optibrut. The acquisition is part of Plukon’s aim to invest further in the quality of its chicken chains.

Earlier this year, Plukon acquired 100% of the shares in poultry products producer Grupo de Gestión Empresarial Avícola VMR. Spanish firm VMR supplies customers on a daily basis in central Spain using its own distribution channel.

Plukon employs over 6,500 people and supplies chicken products and ready meals to several European food partners.

The company operates 11 poultry processors and seven processing and packaging plants across the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and Poland. At its facilities, Plukon slaughters and processes nine million chickens on a weekly basis.
