Kellogg’s Pringles Production Facility Expansion, Kutno

Kellogg’s is expanding its existing Pringles production facility located in Kutno, Poland. The construction of a new production line at the facility started with a groundbreaking ceremony held in November 2019.

The expansion will play an important role in supporting the company’s long term plans for growth in Poland.

The estimated investment involved in the project is €110m ($121m). The new facility will become operational in May 2021.

The project will create 100 new jobs for people in the local area. It will also increase the facility’s production capacity to meet the increasing demand for Kellogg’s Pringles.

Kellogg’s Pringles production line location and details

The new manufacturing line will be located at the existing plant in Kutno in the Lodz Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in central Poland.

The new production facility will be the Kutno Pringles plant’s fourth manufacturing line that extends across an area of 21,000m².

It will use the latest technology for production and increase the current production capacity by 34% to produce 60,000t of Pringles annually.

Kellogg’s existing Pringles production facility details

The existing facility is divided into three zones, namely the production zone, the warehouse section and the office and staff utility areas.

The production zone extends across an area of 3,115m² and is used for packaging Pringles products.

The warehouse section occupies an area of 9,358m², while the offices and staff facilities, including utility areas, cover an area of 585m².

The production hall is installed with LEO FB 45 and LEO FB 9 on/off fan heater versions. The VNTLCD control panels connect the units to the intelligent building management system (BMS).

ELiS G air curtains with and without heat exchangers are installed at the facility to reduce heat loss by the openings of gates.

Contractors involved

Kellogg’s Europe contracted Blue Projects to provide the design and construct the new Pringles production line.

Blue Projects is responsible for permitting processes, civil and technological design, engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) and the commissioning of the new production line.

The company also offers CheezIt, Cracker Chips, Keebler, Nutri-Grain Bars, Kellogg’s Prebiotic High Fibre Range, Krave and the Happy Gut Range, which is rich in wheat bran fibre.

Headquartered in Battle Creek, US, Kellogg’s is a global snack food company known for the production of biscuits, breakfast cereals and snacks.

The company acquired Procter & Gamble’s Pringles in May 2012. Kellogg’s international snacks business nearly tripled, making it the second largest savoury snacks business in the world after the acquisition.

Kellogg’s built the original factory in Poland for the production of Special K in 2008. The production of Pringles began there in 2014. The company has been operational in the Lodz Special Economic Zone since 2008.

The Kutno Pringles factory is Kellogg’s second-largest European plant. Pringles has been a favourite snack brand of its customers for four decades, with Kellogg’s recording net sales of approximately $13.5bn in 2018.
