M&As this week: Ebro Foods, The Nature’s Bounty, NN Group

Rice, pasta and sauce producer Ebro Foods SA (formerly Ebro Puleva) has completed the acquisition of baby food producer Bioalimentacion Infantil de Andalucia SL (BIA).

Both the companies involved in the acquisition are based in Spain.

Nutritional supplements producer The Nature’s Bounty Co has acquired gluten-free protein bar producer Best Bar Ever Inc.

Both the acquirer and target companies are based in the US.

NN Group NV has acquired 5.1% interest in Norway-based salmon producer Bakkafrost P/F.

Based in the Netherlands, NN Group is a provider of banking, insurance and investment management solutions.

Conaxess Trade Group, a subsidiary of private equity firm AURELIUS Equity Opportunities SE & Co, KGaA, has acquired Galleberg AS from the Styrmoe Family.

Conaxess Trade is a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) distributor based in Denmark, while Galleberg is a Norwegian food products provider.

US-based data-driven solutions provider AgroFresh Solutions Inc has acquired 15% interest in UK-based ethylene removal filters provider Food Freshness Technology Holdings Limited for $10m.

AgroFresh has also signed a commercial agreement to gain access to Food Freshness’ Fresh! ethylene removal filters technology.

Dessert Holdings has acquired frozen cheesecakes producer Atlanta Cheesecake Company (ACC), which is the US subsidiary of Panarama Incorporated.

Dessert Holdings is a holding company created by a private equity firm named Gryphon Investors.

Following the acquisition, ACC will retain its own brand and product lines, while it will operate with Dessert Holdings’ The Original Cakerie.

Both the companies involved in the acquisition are based in the US.
