M&As this week: Pioneer Food Group, Evans Food Group, Sysco Corporation

Pioneer Food Group has reached an agreement with Heinz Foods South Africa (Proprietary) to acquire the outstanding share of 50.1% in Heinz Foods SA, a joint venture between Pioneer Food and HJ Heinz Company.

Pioneer Food Group is a food and beverage company, while Heinz Foods SA manufacturers tomato ketchup and other food products.

All the companies involved in the transaction are based in South Africa.

Pork rinds producer and supplier Evans Food Group has acquired Gaytan Foods, a pork rinds producing company.

BMO Harris Bank and Antares Capital provided financing for the transaction, while Evans has engaged DLA Piper as its legal counsel for the transaction.

Both the companies involved in the transaction are based in the US.

Sysco Corporation has gained full ownership of Mayca Distribuidores through the acquisition of the remaining 50% stake. Sysco earlier acquired a 50% stake in Mayca in 2014.

Sysco Corporation is a US-based foodservice distributor, while Mayca Distribuidores is a Costa Rica-based company engaged in the distribution of food products.

Food and beverage producer and distributor Nestle USA has acquired coffee company Chameleon Cold-Brew Coffee.

Both the companies involved in the transaction are based in the US.

Beechdean Dairies has increased its stake in Lovingtons Ice Cream from 50% to 100% through the acquisition of the remaining stake.

Both the companies involved in the transaction are based in the UK and are into ice-cream production.

Mexican dairy company Grupo LALA has acquired an 8% stake in Vigor Alimentos from Arla Foods amba.

Vigor Alimentos is a dairy and food company based in Brazil, while Arla Foods amba is a Denmark-based dairy products producer and seller.
