FDA Warns Seafood Importer over Packaging

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned seafood importer Seoul Shik Poom over its failure to identify product hazards on the packaging of its frozen fish.

According to the FDA, the company’s frozen mackerel and salted wild anchovy lacked the necessary paperwork declaring the dangers of histamine and pathogens.

The federal agency also said the same items lacked evidence that the fish was processed according to US food safety guidelines.

Histamine and pathogens play a major role in many allergic reactions in human bodies.

The FDA has also indicated that some labels on the company’s vegetable, fruit and nut products do not follow its regulations.

According to FDA, the company’s canned tuna product has been incorrectly labelled as fresh.
