Darling International Reports Q4 Profit

Darling International has announced that its Q4 net income increased to $9.2m compared to a net loss of $13.9m a year earlier.

The US-based company posted a net income of $41.8m for the fiscal year ended 2 January 2010.

For the fourth quarter, Darling reported net sales of $149.6m compared to $148.5m during the same period in 2008.

In 2009, the company reported net sales of $597.8m compared to $807.5m in 2008.

Darling attributed the $209.7m decrease in sales to lower finished product prices and reduced raw material volume.
