Brazil Intends to Increase Meat Export

The Brazilian Government said it will increase the country’s meat production to achieve a 44% share in the international export market by 2020.

Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture said the country’s share of the world meat export market is 37.4%.

The government also expects to increase its poultry exports from 41.4% to 48.1%.

Current beef exports of will rise from 25% to 30.3% while pork exports will rise to 14.2% from 12.4%, the ministry said.

Domestic meat production is expected to rise over 37% by 2020, which will mean an additional 8.4 million tons, it said.
