Pennsylvania Suspends Dairy Firm’s Raw Milk Sales Permit

The Department of Agriculture in Pennsylvania, US, has cancelled the raw milk sale permit of Pasture Maid Creamery in New Castle, Lawrence County, after samples found campylobacter.

The cancellation came after the Department of Health received reports of consumers becoming ill after consuming raw milk from the dairy provider.

The Department of Agriculture laboratory also confirmed that additional milk samples collected from the farm on 26 March contained campylobacter.

Campylobacter is a bacterial infection affecting the intestinal tract that can cause diarrhoea and vomiting.
