Salmonella Outbreak Prompts Mass Egg Recall

Nearly 228 million eggs have been recalled following a salmonella outbreak that sickened dozens of people in Los Angeles, US, health authorities said.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said the victims fell sick after consuming tainted eggs or fruit pulp.

The outbreaks were linked with certain eggs from Wright County Egg and frozen tropical fruit pulp from COCO, the department said.

Eggs affected by the recall were distributed in California, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, according to health officials.

The Centers for Disease Control said at least 13 brands of eggs are being recalled after the outbreak struck hundreds of people across at least three states.
