Palsgaard opens new manufacturing facility in Malaysia

Emulsifiers and stabilisers manufacturer Palsgaard has opened a new manufacturing facility in Nusajaya, Johor, Malaysia, following an investment of $36m.

The 7,300m² facility has the capacity to produce 20,000t per annum of various single emulsifiers as well as a wide range of emulsifiers and stabilisers blends.

The facility features an advanced manufacturing plant with integrated energy saving functionalities, and R&D facility, laboratory, warehouse and administration centre.

Palsgaard stated that it selected Johor as the location for the facility due to its proximity to the source of raw materials such as palm oil and its derivatives, and easy access to the harbour as well as to Palsgaard Singapore’s Innovation Centre for dairy, ice cream, soya, bakery, and confectionery applications.

Malaysia International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Haji Ir Hamim Samuri said that food safety has become a major concern of most governments worldwide – both in terms of locally produced food and imported produce.

"Therefore, it is heartening to note that Palsgaard has reaffirmed commitments to manufacture its products in accordance with the principles of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (commonly known as HACCP) and simultaneously meet the strictest requirements of food safety to maintain its reputation as a clean and safe company," Samuri added.

Headquartered in Juelsminde, Denmark, Palsgaard operates as a subsidiary of Palsgaard Gods and is engaged in the manufacture and marketing of emulsifiers and stabilisers for the US and international markets.

The company offers emulsifiers for baker’s mixes, retail mixes, industrial cakes, confectionery, sauces, ketchups, and meat products.
