Australia Fresh Milk Holdings completes acquisition of Moxey Farms for $100m

The Australia Fresh Milk Holdings (AFMH) Consortium comprising Leppington Pastoral Company, New Hope Dairy Holdings and Freedom Foods Group has acquired the country’s largest single-site dairy, Moxey Farms for $100m.

Located around 340km west of Sydney in the Lachlan Valley near Gooloogong, the dairy is spread across 2,700ha and has an annual production of 50 million litres of milk.

While operations at the Gooloogong dairy will continue to be normal in the short term, plans are currently being laid down to double stocks, reported abc.net.au.

Consortium director Michael Perich said: "The main thing is to get the expansion of the dairy finalised and to start looking for greenfield dairy sites. We would like to milk more cows out there, but we are just waiting for approvals.

"Hopefully in the next 18 months to two years we should be able to look elsewhere to build future operations."

The Moxey family will also continue operating its farming business, a joint-venture with the Perich family, which also owns a similar farming enterprise at Leppington Pastoral’s Bringelly base.

With the completion of the acquisition, AFMH aims to further its strategic operations across every aspect of the dairy value chain such as processing activities in Australia and China and distribution networks in China.

To expand its presence in the Australian dairy industry, AFMH is likely to make further investments in additional greenfield dairy production sites, reported The Land.
